About
Hi, I'm Alexis Archambault, Educational Therapist and Reading Specialist
Born and raised in north county San Diego, I'm familiar with the schools, educational culture and expectations in our communities. After graduating from UCSB, I started my career working 1 to 1 with students in an intensive reading program. Went on on to receive my teaching credential and masters in Education from UCSD. I found myself drawn back to 1 to 1 education and eventually became the Head of School for Fusion Academy, an awesome alternative middle school and high school in Solana Beach. I took a little time off to have a couple babies, but never stopped pursuing my passion for education and trained in the Orton Gillingham approach to reading. I serve on the board for the International Dyslexia Association San Diego Branch as well as the board for San Diego Mentors. My goal is to get all kids reading and thriving (which looks different for everyone!)

What is a Multisensory Approach?
Multisensory reading instruction engages multiple senses while learning decoding strategies. Students use hearing, touch, movement, and visual components in order to remember and connect phonetic rules and fluency skills.
Students make connections while using different parts of their brain. Stimulating visual and physical memory can help retain new reading strategies.
We may write with our fingers on the table, physically jump from word to word or picture letters in our heads. Multisensory learning keeps the students engaged and gives them a variety of ways to show what they've learned.
